Peter Böhling (pseudonym: Bulo; born June 18, 1971 in Munich ) is a German publicist , journalist and cartoonist .

Life

After visiting the Munich Wilhelm-Haus Stein-Gymnasium and the civil service , studied Böhling Philosophy and Sociology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University , but soon decided for a career as a freelance copywriter and concept developer in advertising, and in market research . In 1999 he switched to journalism and in 2003 founded the “Bulo” editorial office, which specializes in corporate publishing .

At the same time, he developed cartoon characters such as “Herr Scheffe”, “CreativeMan”, “El Fonso” or “Herr Müller” - partly as commissioned work for media companies. In 2014, for example, he drew the logo and trailer for Ottfried Fischer's cabaret show "Ottis Aquarium", which runs on the Heimatkanal .

In 2006 Peter Böhling founded the magazine Clap (subtitle: Das People-Magazin. For the curious, vain and malicious), of which he was the publisher and editor-in-chief until March 2016 (the latter alongside Daniel Häuser). In April 2016 he handed over the editor-in-chief to Daniel Häuser and has since concentrated on his role as editor.

In July 2012 he (again with Daniel Häuser) took over the editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine pardon , which appeared in December 2012 as an anniversary edition.

In February 2016 Böhling founded the magazine "Bock!" (Subtitle: The magazine for everyone who is in the mood for hot shit), which appeared for the first time in June 2016 and was nominated for the Bavarian Print Media Prize in October 2016.

Böhling's artist name comes from one of his children's drawings from 1974, under which he wrote “Bulo”.

His illustrations now appear in national newspapers, magazines, customer magazines and school books. With “Bulos Forum” he had a regular, drawn column from 2010 to 2016 in the media magazine journalist . (Fifty of these columns were published as a book in October 2012 under the title Männschen & Medien .) Since 2014, he has been a regular column in the PR Report magazine, "Bulos PRofis".

Böhling is a volunteer lecturer at the MCAD and the Macromedia University for Media and Communication in Munich.

In 2015 he started speaking a podcast entitled Speaking my Spam , in which he reads out spam emails that he found in his email inbox.

Since November 2015 Bulo has also been drawing for the online appearance of the ZDF program "heute show". Under the title "Everything used to be better bad" he takes a look back at the childhood of well-known personalities.
