Peter Becker (actor)
Peter Becker (born October 24, 1979 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German actor .
Life
Growing up largely in England, where his family lives, Peter Becker appeared on the stage of the Bad Hersfeld Festival for the first time at the age of 15 . At the same time he was working as a youth editor for the Hersfelder Zeitung .
After completing school he moved to Berlin, where he initially worked as a production assistant and casting director for advertising films and music videos. In 2002 Peter Becker began his studies at the renowned Academy for Dramatic Art 'Ernst Busch' Berlin. During this time, film and theater makers became aware of him. First film roles followed (including in Der Untergang der Pamir , director: Kaspar Heidelbach ) and theater engagements (including Deutsches Theater Berlin , Thalia Theater Hamburg ).
The short film Es geht uns gut , on which he works both as a leading actor and as a scriptwriter, won the Baden-Württemberg Film Industry Prize in 2006 and in 2007 received the rating “valuable” from the Wiesbaden Film Evaluation Center (FBW) . Since then, in addition to working in front of the camera (including Stauffenberg , Until nothing remains , Unknown Identity ), he has been involved in the conception and elaboration of cinematic narrative material.
From 2006 to 2007 he went to the Vienna Volkstheater for his first permanent engagement , where he met the director Nuran David Calis , with whom he worked again at the Schauspiel Köln in 2008 . In 2009 he played under the direction of Nurkan Erpulat in Berlin, where he can be seen regularly at Ballhaus Naunynstraße since 2010 .
In addition to his work as an actor, Peter Becker moderates live events such as the Achtung Berlin! Film festival, gives readings (including at the Literaturhaus Berlin ) and speaks for radio (including Deutschlandradio Kultur ) and TV (including ARTE ).
Since 2017, Peter Becker has been the first German leading actor in War Horse , the successful piece by the Royal National Theater on the theater stage. On September 11, 2018, the ensemble returned to the Royal National Theater for the first time in 10 years. The occasion was a gala performance to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
