Dietmar Momm

Egidius Dietmar Momm (born June 16, 1946 in Vicht ; † December 13, 2008 in Aachen ) was a German sculptor and "mixed media artist". He worked in Aachen.

Life

From 1961 to 1964 he was trained as a blacksmith at Werkkunst Peters in Stolberg (Rhineland) .

From 1969 Momm studied product design (diploma) at the FH Aachen with Fritz Ulrich, Hennig Seemann and Hildegard Reiz. After working for two years at the Aachen Theater , he began studying art history , building history and monument conservation at RWTH Aachen University . There he studied with Hans Holländer, Peter Gerlach and Ingeborg Schild . From 1979 Momm studied sculpture and mixed media at the Jan van Eyck Academie (Maastricht) with AAJ Troost, Lo van der Linden and Rudi van de Wint.

Momm co-founded the Free Summer Academy in Aachen in 1979 and the New Aachen Art Association in 1985 .

Momm has been known nationwide since the early 1970s through his steel sculptures of minimalism , video art and etchings (e.g. La Meer, Corpus Christi ).

Dietmar Momm died on December 13, 2008 of liver failure. He found his final resting place in the forest cemetery of his home village Vicht.

Dietmar Momm was the father of a son: Milo Pablo Momm (born August 29, 1977).
