Peter Friedrich Nicolaus Meyer , Meyer-Rodenberg since 1919 (born November 28, 1853 in Elsfleth ; † January 28, 1923 in Bremen ) was a German administrative lawyer, a member of the Oldenburg parliament and from 1908 to 1919 the government president of the Principality of Lübeck .

Life

Peter Friedrich Nicolaus Meyer was the son of the Elsflether barber and heuerling Johann Ernst Meyer and his wife Friederike Auguste nee. Bold. He attended elementary school in Elsfleth and the school Oldenburg through high school in 1873. He then studied law at the University of Goettingen and was here in 1877 for Dr. jur. PhD.

In 1877 he passed his tentamen (1st legal exam) and in 1881 his (2nd) exam. In 1878 he entered the civil service of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and was initially an auditor and assistant officer at the Vechta office . From October 1879 he was entrusted with the business of a secretary and unskilled laborer for the Oldenburg government in Eutin , the royal seat of the Principality of Lübeck, which was part of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg . On March 1, 1881, he was assigned to the secretariat of the Department of the Interior and at the same time entrusted with the administration of the secretariat in the department of the Grand Ducal House and foreign affairs. In 1881, after passing the second state examination, he was appointed government assessor . In 1882 he was appointed a member of the Commission for the home system and on November 1, 1882 Amtshauptmann the Office Cloppenburg . In 1884 he was transferred to the Wildeshausen Office in the same position and in 1890 to the Westerstede Office.

From 1899 to 1900 he was a member of the Oldenburg State Parliament .

On April 1, 1901, he was appointed lecturing council in the department of finance with the title Oberfinanzrat. Associated with this was the chairmanship of the customs directorate in Oldenburg; at the same time he was the third member of the management of the widows, orphans and annuity funds. In place of the resigned State Councilor Franz Heinrich Alexander Bucholtz , he was appointed an administrative member of the State Examination Commission and a member of the authority responsible for deciding on conflicts of jurisdiction between the administrative and judicial authorities. In 1907 he was promoted to the Secret Chief Finance Council at the Department of Finance and Chief Customs Director at the Customs Directorate in Oldenburg.

On November 1, 1908, he was appointed Chairman of the Grand Ducal Government of the Principality of Lübeck in Eutin with the title of District President and was entrusted with the management of a member of the government.

During the November Revolution of 1919, Meyer was unable to mediate in a conflict between the agricultural organizations that had been triggered by the searches of private households for food ordered by the State Workers' Council, and was retired on October 15, 1919 under the title of Privy Council .

He was married to Emmy geb. Rodenberg (1859–1933), whose maiden name he added to his family name in 1919. The couple had three children, including Wilhelm Meyer-Rodenberg (1892–1955), deputy Oldenburg representative at the Reichsrat and provisional district president in Osnabrück, and Major Karl-Peter Meyer-Rodenberg.
