Life

Peter Grosz grew up as a member of the German minority in Romania . He studied German and Romance languages in Timișoara , where he also headed the group of authors, Working Group 74 . After attempting to escape in October 1974, he was arrested in Yugoslavia and extradited to Romania. Sentenced to 19 months in prison, he was paroled in late July 1975. As it became publicly known in February 2010, Grosz himself worked for the Securitate for some time . As IM “Gruia” he spied on members of the literary action group Banat over a period of four years . At the beginning of June 1977 he was able to travel to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Grosz worked as a grammar school teacher for German, initially in Mainz and from 1985 in Oppenheim at the grammar school in St. Katharinen, where he has also been teaching performing arts since the 2006/07 school year . He was also active as a writer.

Grosz's extensive cultural activities include leading the Mainz authors 'group (1978 to 1980), organizing various writing workshops and young literary competitions (including a member of the jury at the young authors' meeting ) and managing the Mainz Literature Office (1990 to 1994). In October 2008 he was entrusted by the Oppenheim City Council with the artistic direction of the Oppenheim Youth Festival and in October 2009 with the direction of the Oppenheim Youth Festival and Festival , which, however, was withdrawn from him in February 2010 after his work for the Securitate became known.
