Peter H. Fürst (2014)

Peter H. Fürst (born December 29, 1933 in Leoben , Austria; died January 12, 2018 in Cologne ) was an Austrian photographer.

Life

From 1954 to 1957, Fürst completed an apprenticeship in his parents' company and studied at the Higher Graphic Education and Research Institute in Vienna . 1960 followed the master's examination and the step into self-employment. From 1963 to 1968, Fürst photographed for companies such as Lancôme , Revlon and Sans Soucis . In addition, works in the field of fashion photography were created .

1968 began the partnership with the psychologist Ralf Baumgarten (1940-2005). Many of the Fürst photos were now created on the basis of shape-psychological considerations.

In 1970 Fürst worked for companies such as Gossard, Triumph International and Palmers , where he was one of the first photographers to take pictures of the lingerie outdoors. The following year, the psychological series The Seven Faces of a Woman and the first European poster with a completely naked man were created.

In 1971 he was appointed to the Association of Freelance Photo Designers (BFF), of which he was a member until 2001. In 1973 he became a member of the German Society for Photography. V. (DGPh). This was followed by commissions for beauty, fashion and fur couture as well as lingerie photography from well-known premium brands such as AntineA, Lejaby (both Paris), Lovable Italy, DeWe Belgium, Bestform SA and others. He also worked for many advertising agencies across Europe.

In between, Fürst repeatedly occupied himself with free work, such as landscapes (impressions) or metamorphoses , analogue conversions from slide to negative color print, or black and white portraits, which were always accompanied by exhibitions and catalogs.

In 1982 the now world-famous Fürst photo Danielle in black lingerie (homage to Anton Räderscheidt ) was taken, which was added to the collection of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne in 1989 .

In 2002, Fürst closed his photo studio and founded the photographic archive , which contains works on the subjects of beauty , lingerie, fashion , portraits, landscape and art.

Fürst was buried in the grave of Ralf Baumgarten (Lit. J No. 280) at the Melaten cemetery in Cologne .
