Peter Heinrich von Stojentin

Peter Heinrich von Stojentin (* 1713 ; † September 12, 1776 in Stendal ) was a royal Prussian major general and governor of Liebenwalde and Zehdenick .

Life

He was the son of Johann Georg von Stojentin , heir to Neu Gutzmerow , Stolp district , and Sophia Katharina von Bandemer from the Kunhof family .

In 1728 he joined the Mosel Regiment and was promoted to lieutenant there . In 1742 King Friedrich II promoted him to staff captain of the fusilier regiment Prince Ferdinand von Braunschweig . In 1744 he received his own company and was promoted to major in November 1752 , lieutenant colonel in 1758 and colonel in 1759 . On June 29, 1763 he was appointed governor of Liebenwalde and Zehdenick. On July 26, 1764 he became major general and chief of the Lindstedt regiment on foot .

In May 1774 he received the order Pour le Mérite at the Magdeburg Revue . In the same year he sold Neu-Gutzmerow to Count Friedrich von Wersowitz .

Stojentin fought in the campaigns on the Rhine in 1734 and 1735 and in 1744 in Pomerania, Silesia, Saxony, Bohemia and Moravia. He was involved in the most important battles. He was particularly able to distinguish himself in the battles near Hohengiersdorf (near Schweidnitz ), Altenburg and Pegau in 1760 and 1762 .

He died unmarried in Stendal on September 12, 1776 after 48 years of service.
