From 1961 to 1963 he played 48 league games (one hit) in the Oberliga Nord for VfR Neumünster and in 1963 moved to Eintracht Braunschweig in the newly founded Bundesliga . On the first match day of the first Bundesliga season he was used in a 1-1 draw against TSV 1860 Munich . He became a regular player immediately and played 27 games in the first year. This season he was also used in four international junior matches for the DFB . He also scored his first goal in the premiere season on matchday 12 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern to make it 1: 2. In the following seasons he was able to maintain his place in the defense of the Braunschweiger Löwen and then played a major role in the sensational win of the German championship in the 1966/67 season .

In the European Cup season 1967/68 the Brunswick were allowed as champion last year at the European Cup champions take part. Kaack played in the two round of 16 games against SK Rapid Wien and was also on the field in the quarter-finals against Juventus Turin . Kaack scored three goals in the 3-2 home win - tragically two of them were own goals . After just 12 minutes, a shot by the Italian Giuseppe Favalli from Kaack's shin ricocheted into his own goal. Shortly afterwards, the unlucky raven made up for his mistake with a long-range shot to make it 1-1, but towards the end of the game the ball bounced off Kaack's shin into his own net again. After the narrow 1-0 defeat in the second leg, which was decided by a penalty shortly before the end of the game, there was a play-off in Bern , which the Braunschweiger lost again 1-0 and were eliminated.

Kaack also scored twice in his own goal in the Bundesliga - on December 12, 1969 for a 2-0 final against Hertha BSC and on January 20, 1973 in a 2-2 away game against VfL Bochum . In 1971, when the Bundesliga scandal was uncovered, he was sentenced to a fine of 4,400 DM . In the 1971/72 season he completed five games in the UEFA Cup , but failed with his team in the round of 16 at Ferencváros Budapest .

Kaack played a total of 299 Bundesliga games for Eintracht Braunschweig, scoring two goals. There were also 22 appearances in the DFB Cup and ten in the European Cup. In 1973 he returned to VfR Neumünster, for whom he played until 1979.

After retiring, he worked for the sporting goods company Adidas . Today Peter Kaack lives in Kiel .
