Peter Paul Morandell

Peter Paul Morandell (born February 7, 1901 in Bozen ; † January 31, 1976 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian folk and landscape painter .

Life

Peter Paul Moran Dell was the son of a kuk born postal workers in 1901 in Bolzano, then part of Austria. He received his training in Bolzano and Rome . In 1940 , like many South Tyroleans , he emigrated as part of the option policy . After the war he sought further training at the academy in Vienna . He later settled in Innsbruck, but also stayed in his old home again and again. He died in Innsbruck in 1976.

His works included murals and panel paintings, which preferred to deal with depictions of landscapes and folk themes. In addition, Morandell worked in South Tyrol, Tyrol and Bavaria as a fresco artist in the church sector, such as B. with his dance of death at the cemetery chapel in Scheffau . The style of his often simplistic representational painting, often with intense coloring, ranged between Expressionism and Late Impressionism .
