Peter Szabó (born March 22, 1981 in Nitra , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ours de Villard-de-Lans in the French Ligue Magnus since 2011 .

Career

Peter Szabó began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at MHC Nitra , for whom he played in the youth team from 1995. From 1998 he was also on the ice in the senior division for the professional team, for which he was active until 2000. After a season with the Danville Wings from the North American Hockey League , Szabó played from 2001 to 2005 for a total of four years for the ice hockey team of St. Cloud State University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After the attacker had spent the 2005/06 season in the squad of the Motor City Mechanics from the United Hockey League , he ran in the following season for the South Carolina Stingrays from the ECHL .

In the summer of 2007 Szabó returned to Europe and signed a contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen from the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . In the 2008/09 season he was under contract with their league rivals, the Landshut Cannibals , before he was signed by HKm Zvolen in November 2009. He started the 2010/11 season again with the Lausitzer Füchsen in the 2nd Bundesliga and finished it with Asplöven HC in Division 1 , the third Swedish division. For the 2011/12 season he was obliged by the Ours de Villard-de-Lans from the French Ligue Magnus .

International

For Slovakia , Szabó took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 1999 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2001 . He was able to win the bronze medal in 1999.
