Peter Vack , actually Peter S. Brown (born September 19, 1986 in West Village , New York City ) is an American actor , screenwriter , director and producer . He is best known for his role as Alex Merriweather in the Amazon Instant Video series Mozart in the Jungle (since 2014).

Life

Vack was born in the West Village. His parents are Jane (nee Spivack) and Ronald Farrar Brown, a film producer and writer. His younger sister Betsey is also an actress and writer. Vack grew up in New York. He attended Riverdale Country School and Professional Children's School. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in theater.

Vack made his acting debut in the short film Dear Diary (1996), which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film . He was guest actor in individual episodes of the television series Hope & Faith (2004), Third Watch (2004), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2005), Ghost Whisperer (2009) and Cold Case (2010). Also in 2010 he played the role of "Josh" in the film Consent , directed by his father. His sister Betsey was in the film as "Samantha" and Troian Bellisario as "Amanda".

From 2011 until his dismissal the following year, he played Jason Strider in the short-lived MTV television series I Just Want My Pants Back . Since 2014 he has appeared as Alex Merriweather in the Amazon Instant Video series Mozart in the Jungle , alongside Malcolm McDowell , Lola Kirke and Bernadette Peters .

Vack is a founding member of the theater group "The Casitas Gruppe" and co-founder of the theater project "Shakespeare on the Subway".
