The Roman Catholic parish church Kirchbichl is located in the municipality of Kirchbichl in the Kufstein district in the state of Tyrol . The church consecrated to the Assumption of the Virgin belongs to the Kufstein deanery in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building .

history

In 788 a parish in Bichlwang was mentioned in a document. In 1217 Kirchbichl was named. The Gothic church building was heavily modified and baroque from 1733 to 1735 according to plans by the builder Jakob Singer . The church is surrounded by the former cemetery wall with niches of the cross.

architecture

The retracted polygonal choir has two-story extensions on the sides. The five-bay nave with round arched windows has two marble arched portals with fighters on the south side of the nave, one portal with a volute wedge. The mighty west tower - in front of the nave - has round-arched twin windows on the bell storey and has a pointed helmet with curved gables.

Furnishing

The high altar was built in 1739 by Johann Georg Lengerer at the height and width of the choir. The life-size Madonna was created by Rupert Reindl in 1956. Next to her the hll kneel Dominic and Catherine of Siena , above are God the Father , the Archangels Michael , Raphael and two other angels. The two large statues on the side show the hll. Florian and Sebastian .

The left side altar shows a picture of the mystical marriage of St. Catherine of Alexandria , the statues of St. Isidore and Notburga is  flanked. The essay depicts St. Elisabeth of Thuringia .

The picture on the right side altar shows the decapitation of James the Elder , the top picture shows St. Leopold . The statues represent the hll. Sixtus II and Myra .

The stucco on the capitals and as the window crowning and the foliage- bandwork stucco in the vault was created around 1735 by Hans Singer . The  ceiling paintings, created by Matthias Ruef in 1784, show the coronation of Mary in the choir of the Birth of Mary , in the nave in a ceiling-filling medallion . The apostles and four church fathers are depicted in side medallions .

The organ case is neo-baroque. Kurt Bühl cast the four bells in Bad Häring.
