Parish church Tegernheim

Mary Annunciation is a listed Roman Catholic parish church in Kirchstrasse 25/27 in the municipality of Tegernheim in the district of Regensburg ( Bavaria ).

history

The church is essentially a Romanesque choir tower church . The nave in the Romanesque period was only 6.60 m wide and extended to the current transverse passage. In the late Gothic era in the first half of the 14th century, the nave of the church was enlarged to 11 m wide and 18 m long. Further extensions took place around 1739 and 1953. In the 18th century the church was redesigned in the baroque style.

In the donation book of the Obermünster Abbey , Plebanus Gotfrid (1224–1241) is mentioned as the first known pastor of the church. Until 1425 the parish was assigned to the Donaustauf rural chapter . Then Tegernheim came to the Reichsstift Obermünster , where it remained until 1810.

In 1975 and 1993 the parish church was renovated.

Buildings and equipment

The 28 meter high fortified tower (13th century) and the choir (12th century) date from the Romanesque period . The sacristy is attached to the tower to the north.

The church, which has remained intact over the centuries, has figures and paintings from different centuries (Gothic high altar figure of Saint Mary with child from the 15th century, Gothic group of apostles, late Gothic crucifixion group). The Gothic portal surrounded by a vine band to the corbels sit sheet masks . The arch field above is designed as a tympanum . The four-column high altar in rococo style with shellwork and canopy was created in 1773 by carpenter Stefan Bergbichler from Donaustauf. Above the popular altar from 1975 there is a late Gothic Madonna in a rosary from 1500 on the ceiling. The left side altar is consecrated to St. Anna , the right to St. Nicholas . The sculptures of the water saint St. Nicholas in the right side altar and of St. Urbanus with the grape above the north portal testify to the close relationship between the place and the Danube and viticulture .

On the late baroque sandstone baptismal font is a wooden group depicting the baptism of Christ in Rococo style . The rococo-style pulpit from 1766, like the high altar, was made by Stefan Bergbichler. The ceiling painting by Otto Gebhard from Prüfening from 1762 shows the English greeting .

During the interior decoration in 1970/71, Gothic frescoes were discovered, which were, however, painted over again except for a fresco with an Annunciation angel.

On the north wall there are grave slabs made of red marble by Johannes vor Streitberg, pastor of Tegernheim (1421) and later bishop of Regensburg, as well as pastor Johannes Steindl, who died in 1585.

The way of the cross with 14 stations made of terracotta dates from 1889.

The cemetery wall on the east side dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

organ

The original organ with 8 registers was made in 1878 by Ludwig Edenhofer from Regen . In 1953 the organ was overhauled and given a free pipe prospect. When the organ was built in 1973 by Hermann Kloss from Kelheim , the case was restored to its old form and the instrument was expanded to 15 registers with two manuals and a pedal .

Bells

Four bells hang in the church tower with the tone sequence f sharp ′ a ′ h ′ d ″ (ideal quartet). The big bell, the so-called water bell with the inscription "Ave Virginis", dates from 1474, the three smaller ones were cast in 1952 by the Hofweber bell foundry in Regensburg and replace the previous bells that were melted down in 1942 during World War II.
