Philip Lasap Za Hawng

Philip Lasap Za Hawng (born February 12, 1945 in Pang-Pu ) is a Myanmar clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Lashio .

Life

Philip Lasap Za Hawng was ordained a priest on March 1, 1973 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Myitkyina and titular bishop of Avioccala on December 20, 1993 . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Thailand , Singapore and Cambodia and the Apostolic Delegate in Myanmar , Laos and Malaysia , Archbishop Luigi Bressan , on April 30, 1994; Co- consecrators were Paul Zingtung Grawng , Bishop of Myitkyina, andAlphonse U Than Aung , Archbishop of Mandalay .

On April 3, 1998, Lasap Za Hawng was appointed Bishop of Lashio. On June 24, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Philip Lasap Za Hawng's request for resignation for reasons of age.
