Philipp Friedrich Theodor Adolph von Feldmann (born August 12, 1828 in Hamburg , † February 8, 1894 in Hanover ) was a captain in Hamburg , later a Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 21st Infantry Regiment . He was ennobled in 1871 .

Life

His parents were the businessman Berthold Christian Feldmann († August 20, 1866) and his wife Marianna Wilhelmine, née Introzzi († September 24, 1869).

Career

He received his education at the Realschule in Hamburg and then at the Brigade Military School in Oldenburg . He then went to Hamburg as a volunteer in the Oldenburg-Hanseatic Brigade . There he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich on October 13, 1844 and to Seconde Lieutenant on September 30, 1847 . With the unit he took part in the first Schleswig War in 1848 . On August 4, 1850, he then switched to Schleswig-Holstein service and, after the army was disbanded, returned to Hamburg service on March 15, 1851 . There he rose to Prime Lieutenant on March 12, 1853 and became a captain and company commander on April 7, 1847 . During the German War of 1866 he fought on the Prussian side in the Main Army . After the military convention between Hamburg and Prussia, Feldmann joined the Prussian army on September 25, 1867 . There he received a patent as a captain dated April 7, 1857 and was aggregated into the Guard Fusilier Regiment . He rose to major on March 22, 1868 and was posted from June 15, 1869 to June 23, 1869 for replacement business in the district of the 15th Infantry Brigade. At that time, on June 18, 1869, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion of the Guard Fusilier Regiment.

During the Franco-Prussian War he fought at Gravelotte , Beaumont and Sedan as well as the siege of Paris . For this he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class on September 4, 1870 and the Iron Cross 1st Class on April 8, 1871.

After the war he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on June 16, 1871 for the bravery he had shown before the enemy. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1873, he was commissioned to lead the 21st infantry regiment on June 2, 1875, and was placed à la suite of the regiment. He was confirmed as commander on January 4, 1875 and promoted to colonel on March 22, 1876 . He was awarded the IInd Class of the Order of the Crown and was transferred to army officers on June 16, 1881 wearing the uniform of the 21st Infantry Regiment. From there he was put up for disposal on May 4, 1882 with the character of major general and pension .

Feldmann married on May 15, 1862 in Hamburg-St.Georg Jenny Lührsen (born September 6, 1841 - † December 23, 1917) widowed Schöler, a daughter of Gustav Lührsen . The couple had several children:
