Heinrich Philipp Andreas von Reichenbach (born September 3, 1783 in Calbe (Saale) , † April 11, 1852 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Philipp was a son of the gentleman on Karge Johann Friedrich Aribert von Reichenbach (1735-1790) and his wife Beate Sophie, née Wiegleb (1752-1814).

Military career

Reichenbach was initially a cadet in Berlin and on March 29, 1800 was employed as an ensign in the "Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army . At the end of February 1804 he was promoted to second lieutenant and on September 25, 1804 he joined a grenadier battalion, which was formed from the grenadier companies of his previous regiment and the regiment of Prince August Ferdinand. In the Fourth Coalition War Reichenbach fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was captured with the surrender of Erfurt.

After the Treaty of Tilsit , he was released as captain on November 14, 1808 , as he was now a Westphalian subject. Thereupon he entered service in Westphalia two years later and was employed as a prime lieutenant in the Chasseur regiment. In 1811 he was promoted to captain and in 1812 Reichenbach took part in the battles near Smolensk and Borodino during the Russian campaign. After the collapse of the Kingdom of Westphalia, he returned to Prussian service and on October 28, 1813, joined the Elbe Infantry Regiment as Prime Lieutenant. During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Leipzig and Waterloo , where he earned the Iron Cross II class, as well as the blockade of Stettin and the siege of Antwerp.

On September 1, 1815, Reichenbach was promoted to captain and on January 9, 1816, transferred to the troop brigade in Erfurt as a general staff officer. In mid-December 1816 he received the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class. On March 30, 1821, he was a major in the General Staff of the 8th Division and, after two years, in the General Command of the V Army Corps . In 1828 he was awarded the service cross , before he was transferred to the General Staff on March 30, 1833 as head of a theater of war. In this position, Reichenbach rose to lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1836 and was appointed chief of the general staff of the 1st Army Corps on March 30, 1837 . There he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1838 and on September 8, 1840 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow. On April 7, 1842, Reichenbach came to Thorn fortress as commandant . There he became major general on March 30, 1844 and on July 11, 1848 he received his retirement with the character of lieutenant general and pension. He died on April 11, 1852 in Königsberg.

Reichenbach married Franziska Henriette von Schwichow (1799-1825) in Erfurt on June 10, 1818. The couple had several children:

After the death of his first wife, he married on March 1, 1826 in Nemitz Wilhelmine Karoline Friederike Ulrike von Schwichow (1795–1827) from the Barlin family in Pomerania. The marriage resulted in a daughter (* / † 1827), who died after a few days.

On October 21, 1827, he married Luise Karoline Frederike von Buri (1794–1866), a daughter of Ernst Carl Ludwig Ysenburg von Buri (1746–1806), in Börnchen, Bolkenheim district . From this marriage came:
