Philomont

Philomont is a small, unincorporated rural village in western Loudoun County , Virginia .

Philomont is located in the heart of Virginia's Hunt Country, approximately 12 kilometers north of Middleburg and 9 kilometers south of Purcellville . Philomont is on the foothills of Catoctin Mountain and to the west of the village are the Blue Ridge Mountains .

Philomont was built by Quakers in the 19th century .

The Philomont area has seen significant development over the past ten years. The village is located in one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. The rural flair was largely retained.

The area is known for its horse farms and large manors as well as for the hilly landscape .

One of the basic activities of the village is the fire brigade's barbecue , which is held annually in May. At this fundraising event, real "pit-cooked" beef is offered, which is very tender and is combined with salads, beans, fried potatoes and desserts.

In Philomont there is a communication center, the Philomont Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Philomont Store , as well as some " Bed & Breakfast " accommodation options.
