Jean-Pierre Olov Schori (born October 14, 1938 in Norrköping ) is a Swedish diplomat of Swiss descent.

Life

For several years, Schori was the international secretary of SAP and a close advisor to the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme . In 1982 and 1991 he was Secretary General of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 1994 and 1999 a member of the Cabinet and Deputy Foreign Minister , Member of the European Parliament and Swedish Ambassador to the United Nations . In April 2005, he was appointed by United Nations Secretary General , Kofi Annan , the special envoy to the Ivory Coast appointed.

He was appointed by the European Union as election observer for the 2002 elections in Zimbabwe . From March 2007 to September 2009 he was General Director of FRIDE , a think tank in Madrid.

In a television interview on February 22, 2004, the Israeli ambassador to Sweden, Zvi Mazel , described him and the former Swedish foreign minister, Sten Andersson , as "professional anti-Israelis".
