Paul Erich Wandhoff

Paul Erich Wandhoff (born October 5, 1879 in Duisburg , † June 15, 1934 in Freiberg ) was a German professor of mine surveying and geodesy .

Wandhoff studied at Clausthal University . He was there a member of the Gymnastics Association " Germania ". With his dissertation on the "Moselle terraces from Zeltingen to Cochem" he received his doctorate at the Ludwig University of Giessen in 1914. During World War I he served as a surveyor in the Air Force of the German army in Palestine ( "Operation Pasha") to strengthen the Army Group F . Wandhoff was appointed to the Bergakademie Freiberg in 1918 and held his inaugural lecture on war surveying . There he was rector from 1926 to 1928. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . On April 3, 1934, he was appointed prorector as a man with a "core German conviction" , but died surprisingly.

Wandhoff was involved in 1912 in Carl Schiffner's translation of Georgius Agricola , De re metallica, from 1556.
