Horst Gerhardt

Horst Karl Gerhardt (born February 24, 1935 in Magdala ) is a German mining engineer and university professor.

Life

Horst Gerhardt graduated from high school in 1953 and then completed his eager time in various mining companies. From 1954 to 1959 he studied mining / civil engineering at the Bergakademie Freiberg . After graduating as a qualified engineer, he first worked as a steiger and later as a chief technologist at the Freiberg lead ore mines.

In 1964 he worked as a senior assistant at the Institute for Mining and Civil Engineering at the Bergakademie. A year later he became head of the ore and spar mining department at the Scientific and Technical Center for ore mining in Eisleben . In 1967 he moved to the copper mining plant in the VEB Mansfeld combine . In 1969 he completed his doctorate at the Bergakademie Freiberg. After receiving his PhD B in 1980, he was appointed professor of mining and civil engineering at the Bergakademie.

Horst Gerhardt worked from 1984 to 1988 as Director of the Geotechnical and Mining Section and from 1988 to 1991 as Rector of the Bergakademie Freiberg. In 2000 he retired. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, an honorary colloquium was held on March 3, 2010 in Freiberg.
