Günther Hollweg
Günther Hollweg (born May 24, 1902 in Hütte, West Prussia ; † June 7, 1963 in Freiberg ) was a German mining engineer and professor for the organization of mining operations and most recently rector of the Freiberg Bergakademie in the Ore Mountains .
Life
Günther Hollweg was born the son of a farmer in West Prussia and attended the secondary school in the Prussian district town of Nordhausen from 1911 to 1920 . He then studied mining science at the Clausthal mining academy and attended the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg , where he graduated in 1925.
Günther Hollweg found his first practical activity in fluorspar mining , where he worked as operations manager until 1929. During this time he received his doctorate in 1928 at the Technical University of Berlin with a dissertation on the subject of the economic efficiency of belt, link belt and conveyor conveying , which appeared in print in issues 44 and 45 of the magazine Braunkohle 1929/31.
From 1929 Günther Hollweg worked as a production engineer in lignite mining. In 1936 he was appointed operations manager. In this position he worked for brown coal until the end of the Second World War, which was developing rapidly during this time.
On October 1, 1956, Günther Hollweg was appointed full professor for the organization of mining operations at the Bergakademie Freiberg. In 1961 he was elected rector. After two years he was re-elected in 1963, but died a short time later at the age of 61.
