Tut - The Greatest Pharaoh of All Time is a Canadian - American mini-series that was developed in-house by Spike . The three-part miniseries is based on the life of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun . It was premiered on July 19-21, 2015 on Spike. David von Ancken directed the film.

The miniseries tells the story of the rise of Pharaoh Tutankhamun and his closest confidants, friends and opponents. These include his grand vizier Ay , the high priest Amun , his lover Suhad and his sister and wife Ankhesenamun . In addition, topics such as power struggles, chaos, war and murder are broached.

The mini-series Tut was announced by Spike in May 2014 , making it the second in-house production. The development of the series began in September 2013. The main role of King Tutankhamun went to Avan Jogia . Ben Kingsley was hired before . One of the leading female roles was cast with Kylie Bunbury . The production company was Muse Entertainment, who were already responsible for The Kennedys and The Pillars of the Earth .
The shooting took place in autumn 2014 in Canada and Morocco .
Charisma
The three-part miniseries aired on Spike on July 19-21, 2015 . The Tele München Group has secured the rights in Germany . From August 2015, the complete miniseries in six parts was available from the video-on-demand provider Amazon Instant Video as a German-language version. The series was also released on August 28, 2015 on Blu-ray and DVD. On March 24th and 25th, 2016 the broadcaster VOX broadcast the series in a two-part version.
