content

13-year-old Pauline, known as Pik, has lived with her grandmother Wischonka since her mother's death. Pik never met her father. The grandmother runs an animal boarding house that is on the verge of bankruptcy because many customers have given their animals in with the wrong address. Pik wants to help her grandmother and tries to raise money by singing at Cologne Airport. But she is taken away by the airport police. Although she manages to escape from the police at first, she happens to observe how the corrupt policeman Kowatsch and a customs officer are removing seized drugs. Kowatsch notices that he has been watched, but cannot catch spades.

On her escape from the police, Pik spontaneously pretends to be a French exchange student and ends up in the house of the rich opera diva Ida Königstein. The living conditions that Pik experiences there are very different from what they are used to. While she calmed her grandmother down by making excuses over the phone, Pik was enjoying life with the Königsteins. Even if Amadeus Königstein, who is also her age, has something against her presence because he feels disturbed while practicing the piano.

In the meantime, the policeman Kowatsch is on the trail of spades. So she has to flee again and steals one of the Königsteins' cars. She manages to drive back to Grandma Wischonka's animal boarding house. But Amadeus had noticed her plan and hid in the car because he had fallen in love with her in the past few days. So she has to explain everything to him now.

Since the Königsteins miss their son that evening, they suspect that he was kidnapped. This gives the children the idea to fake their kidnapping in order to get money to save the animal shelter. The transfer of the money fails, but the two succeed in luring Kowatsch and the customs officer into a trap, so that they are arrested.

Spades then supported Amadeus when he took part in a piano competition. She encourages him to play what he likes best and not what his mother wants. So Amadeus wins the competition and the heart of spades.

Remarks

Some elements of the film are based on the Erich Kästner novel Pünktchen and Anton . After the successful films Bibi Blocksberg (2002) and Bibi Blocksberg and the secret of the blue owls (2004), for which Sidonie von Krosigk received the children's media award for best young actress, she plays a title role again.

Pik & Amadeus - Reluctant Friends is the first feature film to be allowed to shoot on the towers of Cologne Cathedral.
