Pilchowice ( German Pilchowitz , from 1936 to 1945 Bilchengrund ) is a village and seat of the rural municipality of the same name in the Silesian Voivodeship , Powiat Gliwicki in Poland .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1305. In 1867, a teachers' college was set up in the former Dominial Castle.

Attractions

The late Baroque building of the Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Beheading is aligned with its front tower on the westward road to Stanitz and was donated by Count Emanuel von Wengersky, built between 1779 and 1780 and renovated in 1912. The main altar with an altar panel of the beheading of John the Baptist and the pulpit date from the time it was built . To the east of the church extends the former monastery of the Merciful Brothers , a neo-Gothic building complex from the 19th century, in which a clinic is now set up.
