Piotrowo ( German  Petersdorf ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community Lubomino (Arnsdorf) in the Lidzbark Warmiński powiat ( Heilsberger Kreis ).

Geographical location

The village is located on the southeast bank of the Dittrichsdorfer See . It is 25 kilometers to the district town of Lidzbark Warmiński (Heilsberg) , the nearest town is Dobre Miasto (Guttstadt) ten kilometers away.

history

From 1874 to 1945 Petersdorf was incorporated into the Wolfsdorf district (now in Polish: Wilczkowo). He belonged to the circle Heilsberg in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia of the German Reich .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the region was occupied by the Red Army in early 1945 . In the summer of 1945, Petersdorf became part of the People's Republic of Poland together with the southern half of East Prussia and all of West Prussia under the place name Piotrowo according to the Potsdam Agreement . As far as the inhabitants had not fled, they were expelled from Petersdorf in the following time .

1975 to 1998 the place now called Piotrowo was part of the Olsztyn Voivodeship ( Allenstein ). Today the village lies within the Gmina Lubomino (Arnsdorf) in the powiat Lidzbarski ( Heilsberger Kreis ) in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Evangelical

Until 1945, the Protestant residents of Petersdorf belonged to the parish Regerteln (now in Polish: Rogiedle). It was located in the extensive church district of Braunsberg (Braniewo) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Piotrowo is assigned to the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Olsztyn (Allenstein) . It is part of the Masurian Diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Catholic

Just as Petersdorf belonged to the parish of Wolfsdorf on the Catholic side before 1945 , so Piotrowo is now part of the Parafia Wilczkowo . It is incorporated into the Deanery Świątki (Heiligenthal) in the Archdiocese of Warmia of the Catholic Church in Poland .
