action

When he leaves his son at soccer training and then has to see that the actual coach Jacob is on the phone more than looking after the children and giving incompetent advice, George spontaneously takes over the training. The children are enthusiastic and the parents urge him to take on the position of coach. For the sake of his son Lewis, he now trains the football team.

During training, George gets to know the mothers of the players who are interested in the attractive Scot. For example, single parent Barb breaks with her resolution to stop seeing men, and former sports host Denise wants to help George find a job as a television expert. A friendship develops with Carl, Pattie's husband and father of a player on the team. With his new job, George is also able to improve his relationship with his son.

George starts affairs with Barb and Denise, but actually he wants to win back his ex-wife Stacie. While Stacie is already in the middle of the wedding preparations, Denise helps him to get a job offer in Connecticut . But George realizes that he doesn't want to live there without his family, so he tries to win Stacie back. Although Stacie doesn't want to at first, she realizes that George still loves her and she calls off the wedding. George doesn't take the job either and prefers to do a show with his friend Chip on the local broadcaster. George and Stacie find their way back together. background

Kiss the Coach grossed just $ 13 million at the US box office .

The story George tells of meeting the Queen at Carl's party when he came out of the shower relates to a similar experience that happened to Spanish footballer Carles Puyol .

criticism

“The mixture of comedy and father-son (ex) wife melodrama doesn't quite work out; the comedy is mainly due to the lively supporting actors from Uma Thurman to Dennis Quaid. "

“Jessica Biel and Gerard Butler make an effort, but you can tell that they can do as little as we can with the tired dialogues in many standard scenes. The Italian director Gabriele Muccino ("One Last Kiss") has reached the lowest point of his time in Hollywood. "

- Thomas Klingenmaier in the Stuttgarter Zeitung .

Awards

Jessica Biel was nominated for a Golden Raspberry for worst supporting actress in 2013.
