Plymouth Argyle Football Club is an English football club based in Plymouth , Devon . The team currently plays in the EFL League One .
Since 1906, the team has won five Football League titles, one in the Southern Football League and one in the Western Football League . To date, Plymouth holds the record for most championships won in England's third division.
The club's nickname, The Pilgrims , goes back to the English emigrants who set out for the New World from Plymouth in 1620 . Argyle's coat of arms features an image of the Mayflower that these settlers took to land in Massachusetts .

The club was founded on September 1, 1886 under the name Argyle Athletic Club . He has had his current name since 1903 and currently plays in Football League Two . The greatest success was reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1984, when they narrowly missed the final in the Villa Park in Birmingham in a 1-0 defeat against Watford . Plymouth plays at Home Park Stadium, which has a capacity of 20,922 today . The club reached its greatest audience on October 10, 1936, when 43,596 visitors came against Aston Villa .
Stadion
The original Home Park , the home ground of Plymouth Argyle, was destroyed during World War II. After the war, the stadium was rebuilt. The last renovation took place in 2002.
The stadium holds a total of 19,500 spectators.
