The P5 model had larger, more forward-reaching front fenders and a slightly higher belt line than its predecessor. This made the vehicles look a bit squat, which the customers did not particularly like. In addition, there were a lot of used cars on the market, so sales of the already rather old-fashioned looking models went very badly. On request, there was a higher compression engine that delivered 86 bhp (63 kW). At the turn of the year - that is, in the middle of the model year - the business was renamed Roadking because this name did not resemble a commercial vehicle that much. In addition, the new model got front triangular windows, like the Deluxe.
74,785 of both models (Business and Roadking) were built in 1938.

The long overdue redesign was presented in August 1938. The vehicles had an alligator hood, (angular) main headlights embedded in the front fenders and a split, V-shaped windshield. There were again - as in the past with business - delivery van models, B. a "Utility Sedan" with 2 doors and only 1 seat or a flatbed truck.
By August 1939 102,368 copies had been made.
