Podolany is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is on the left, northern bank of the Skawinka River (also called Cedron here).

The neighboring towns are Grabie in the northwest, Polanka Hallera in the north, Wola Radziszowska in the east, Zarzyce Małe in the south and Leńcze in the west.

history

Until the later 18th century, the place belonged to the village of Leńcze, part of the easternmost exclave of Silesia , which from 1315 belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , from 1327 under feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494. Around the middle of the 15th century, the settlement began to differ on the lower course of the Skawinka River, later called Leńcze Dolne ("Lower Leńcze"). The name Podolany did not appear until 1680, but was often used together with the name Leńcze Dolne until the early 20th century .

During the first partition of Poland , Podolany became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

From 1904 the village belonged to the Haller family from the neighboring village of Polanka Hallera.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Podolany came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Podolany was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
