The place is in Pogórze Wielickie on the way from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska to Skawina . The neighboring towns are Krzęcin in the northwest, Gołuchowice in the northeast, Jurczyce in the east, Wola Radziszowska in the south, Podolany in the southwest, and Grabie in the east.

history

The area between the rivers Skawa in the west and Skawinka in the east was separated from Lesser Poland in 1274 and attached to the Duchy of Opole . The Duchy of Opole was divided in 1281 after the death of Wladislaus I von Opole . From 1290 the area belonged to the Duchy of Teschen and from 1315 to the Duchy of Auschwitz , from 1327 under feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia .

The village in an exclave of the Duchy of Auschwitz was first mentioned in 1353 as a village that paid the tithe to the Abbot of Tyniec ( decimam in Polanka ad ecclesiam et ad abbatem Tynecensem ). The name Polanka is topographical and is the diminutive form of the word polana (German clearing in the forest).

Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494. From 1564 in the Silesian District of the Krakow Voivodeship . Along with Borek Szlachecki and Gołuchowice, it was the easternmost village in the Silesia region.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Polanka became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804). Before 1795 Polanka was bought by the Krakow citizen Martin Aloys Ritter Haller von Hallenburg from the Haller family. The manor, built around 1800, became the administrative seat of the estates, which included several neighboring towns, including: Facimiech , Gołuchowice, Grabie, Krzęcin, Trzebol , Wielkie Drogi . The goods were split up in the future, but Polanka-Haller or Polanka Hallerowska remained the family's headquarters until 1945.

From 1782 the village belonged to the Myslenice district (1819 with the seat in Wadowice ). From 1945 to 1998 Polanka Hallera was part of the Krakow Voivodeship. 2/3 of the area of ​​the village belongs to the Jagiellonian University , including the former Haller manor and park, and 20 hectares of a local forest to the west.
