Leńcze is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is on the left, northern bank of the Skawinka River (also called Cedron here).

The neighboring towns are Grabie in the north, Podolany in the east, Zarzyce Wielkie in the south and Przytkowice in the west.

history

Leńcze in the exclave of the Duchy of Auschwitz / Zator around Krzęcin

The settlement probably originated in the early 13th century and, as an old settlement, its center is not in the Skawinka valley, but on a hill. The place originally belonged to Lesser Poland and also included the area of today's villages Podolany, Zarzycze Wielkie and Zarzycze Małe. The area between the rivers Skawa in the west and Skawinka in the east was separated from Lesser Poland in 1274 and attached to the Duchy of Opole . The village of Lencze became a part of the easternmost exclave of Silesia when the parts of the village on the left, southern bank of the Skawinka remained in Lesser Poland (today's Zarzycze Wielkie and Zarzyce Małe ). The Duchy of Opole was divided in 1281 after the death of Wladislaus I von Opole . From 1290 the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen and from 1315 to the Duchy of Auschwitz , from 1327 under feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

Church in place

Around the middle of the 15th century, two partially divided settlements began to differ: Leńcze Górne ( Upper Leńcze , today's Leńcze) and Leńcze Dolne ( Lower Leńcze , today's Podolany). In 1530 a Roman Catholic parish was established in Leńcze (Górne).

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Leńcze became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Leńcze came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Leńcze was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
