In 1978 Carl Cordier founded Westfalen Sound (today's POOLsound unit). WFS was one of the first German companies to specialize in the professional technical equipment of concert and industrial events and the rental of event equipment. Initially, the focus was on the rock 'n' roll business.

In 1989 the first sister company, The Light Concept GmbH (today's POOLlight unit ), was founded. In addition to the rental of lighting systems, TLC also focused on lighting design for events.

With the establishment of Trend * Event GmbH (today's POOLproduction unit ) in 1991, the sound and lighting technology companies joined forces with a planning company for technical and logistical specialist planning. In 1996 MS Video GmbH was founded (today's POOLpicture unit ), responsible for media visualizations - such as large-screen broadcasts - and presentation and conference technology.

After POOL Management Holding GmbH was founded in 1997, the group in its current form came into being in 2009. The four individual companies have merged under the uniform roof of POOLgroup GmbH and have since appeared on the market as a total service provider.

In the course of the merger, the most recent unit POOLcreation was created . It offers design and design services, such as B. the creation of CAD plans, light and screen design, photo-realistic 3-D simulations and various print media .

A network of medium-sized companies from all areas of the event industry has emerged, which is now the market leader in the field of event production as well as technical planning and implementation.

With this holistic approach, it is now possible to sustainably improve the environmental balance of events. Important milestones in the field of sustainability included the general meeting of a DAX company in 2014, at which 50% of energy consumption was saved, and the implementation of the G7 summit in Elmau in 2015 in a nature reserve.
