Poppberg is part of the municipality of Birgland and a district in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach , Bavaria.
The church village is a good hundred meters north of the federal motorway 6 at an altitude of 597 m above sea level. NHN . Gronatshof , Hainfeld , Matzenhof , Ödamershüll and Poppberg are within the district .
Five hundred meters northwest of the village is the castle ruin Poppberg on the 653 meter high fully wooded Poppberg .
history
In 1961 the former municipality of Poppberg had the municipal parts Poppberg, Gronatshof, Hainfeld, Matzenhof and Ödamershüll, 191 inhabitants and a municipality area of 901.17 hectares . In 1972 it merged with four other municipalities to form the municipality of Birgland.
