history

Although two properties already existed at the site of today's hamlet at the time of the Bavarian premiere , Schwenderöd was only founded as an independent village in 1824 and 1832. This took place through a so-called "breakout" from the church village of Schwend , to which the two properties had been assigned until then. Schwenderöd thus became a new part of the rural community of Schwend, which was created at the beginning of the 19th century through administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria . In the course of the municipal regional reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, Schwenderöd was incorporated into the newly formed municipality of Birgland together with the entire municipality of Schwend on July 1, 1972. In 1987 Schwenderöd had 32 inhabitants.
