Porta linguarum Orientalium
Porta linguarum Orientalium is a series of books on the languages of the Orient, which includes grammars and chrestomathies as well as comparative studies. The series was founded by Julius Heinrich Petermann , who himself contributed a few volumes. The series was first published by Eichler in Berlin, later by H. Reuther in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. The language of the publication was Latin . The continuation, now in German, was carried out by Hermann L. Strack in the 1880s . In the meantime, H. Reuther became Reuther & Reichard in Berlin. The last volumes were finally published by Harrassowitz in Leipzig. After the Second World War and the relocation of the publisher to Wiesbaden, Harrassowitz began a new series that now also contains volumes in English. Volumes 15 and 17 were taken from the old series.
