Post office (Penzberg)
The former post office in Penzberg , a town in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau , was built between 1922 and 1923. The building at Philippstrasse 28 is a protected architectural monument and was opened on June 23, 1923.
description
The two-storey hipped roof building with plastered structures was built by Robert Vorhoelzer (1884–1954), then senior building officer in the Bavarian Post Office Building Administration in Munich, created in 1920, and Franz Lochbrunner. The modern architecture of the post office buildings in Bavaria in the 1920s is known as the “ Post Building School ”. It was the first building to be erected in a series of projects entitled “Country Post Office”. The unified counter hall, the existing plastering structures and clear floor plans were characteristic of the former post office . The location on Philippstrasse was deliberately chosen close to the train station. The post office is one of the most beautiful historical buildings in the city.
