The T 15 of the Prussian State Railways were freight tender locomotives with the wheel arrangement E.

Hagans type

The locomotives were designed for the inclined routes in Thuringia and Silesia , on which triple-coupled locomotives had proven to be too weak. The Christian Hagans machine factory from Erfurt developed a five-fold coupled locomotive with a split frame. In the main frame, the front three were driving axles , while the back were mounted in a rotatably mounted frame and two have been driven by a specially designed lever mechanism of the front axles. The T 15 had an internal control system and a standing boiler with a raised ceiling.

Since they were satisfied with the performance of the locomotive, a total of 92 copies were ordered. The requirement was to pull trains weighing 200 tonnes at a speed of at least 15 km / h on the route with a gradient of 33 ‰ and radii of 200 m. All locomotives were built by the Henschel company between 1897 and 1905, as the Hagans company did not have sufficient capacity for such a large locomotive.

Most of the machines survived the First World War , and eleven were given to France and Belgium as part of reparations . Some of the locomotives were to be classified as class 94.70 at the Deutsche Reichsbahn according to the redesignation plan . However, due to the rapid procurement of Prussian T 16s , the weaker and more complex T 15 could be dispensed with early on.

Type Koechy

The T 15 of the Koechy type remained a unique piece , which also had a split engine, but whose design differed from that of the Hagans T-15. Otherwise this T 15 corresponded to the Hagans design. However, since the running properties were very poor, this type of construction was not continued. The locomotive initially had the number Cöln 1900, later Cöln 8001 and was retired in 1922.
