The Primera División in 1956 was 26 . Playing time of the Argentine football league Primera División . The season began on April 15, 1956. The last game day was December 1, 1956. The Argentinos Juniors from the Primera B Nacional were promoted. CA River Plate finished the season as champions and was able to repeat its previous year's triumph. The Chacarita Juniors had to relegate to the Primera B Nacional .
