Primislaff Ulrich von Kleist (* 1711 in Drenow ; † April 21, 1781 in Kolberg ) was a Prussian major general .

He came from the old Pomeranian noble family von Kleist . He was a son of the Danish lieutenant colonel and heir to Drenow Cartz Ulrich von Kleist († approx. 1741) and Barbara Juliane von Kleist († after 1753). In 1756 he married a widow Heydemann, who brought two daughters into the marriage. Kleist himself remained childless.

Life

Kleist attended school in Flensburg from 1721 . In 1738 he was an ensign in the "Crown Prince" infantry regiment . He was promoted in 1741 to second lieutenant , 1744 to first lieutenant , in 1750 to captain and company commander , in 1754 was Major of the Army and adjutant of the king , was in 1758 to lieutenant colonel finally and 1760 to Colonel promoted.

He took part in the Seven Years' War and in 1758 received the order Pour le Mérite for his service at Zorndorf .

In 1764 Kleist retired from active service and in 1765 became the commandant of Kolberg and the governor of Alt-Stettin and Jasenitz. In 1766 he was promoted to major general.

He owned his father's estate, Drenow, but sold it after comparing it with his siblings. King Ballenberg and Zwirnitz had already been given to him by King in 1750 . However, Kleist soon had to hand over these goods to a relative because of the debts that were on them.
