Prussian Blue (Duo)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prussian Blue was an American girl duo of the twins Lynx Vaughan and Lamb Lennon Gaede (born June 30, 1992 ) from California , which attracted a lot of media attention with racist songs. The group members, who have a younger half-sister named Dresden, have now distanced themselves from the neo-Nazi scene and feel threatened by former supporters.

background

The name Prussian Blue ( Prussian Blue ) is an allusion to the Prussian roots of her family. As the band members explained in an interview in 2004, they wanted the name to be understood as a reference to the absence of Prussian blue (residue from Zyklon B ) in the gas chambers of the German concentration camps , according to Holocaust deniers such as Ernst Zündel or David Irving a " Proof "that no people would have been killed with Zyklon B in concentration camps:" We believe that this could lead people to question some of the inconsistencies of the 'Holocaust' myth. "

A picture in which the sisters wore T-shirts with a Hitler smiley went through the media in late 2005 / early 2006 and briefly brought the band to the attention of the global public. However, this picture was not a band photo in the strict sense of the word, but a picture for a politically right-wing Internet mail order company that employed Lynx and Lamb Gaede as models. In younger years, the girls liked to dress in traditional costumes ( dirndls ) and neat little dresses, while later modern, youthful clothing was preferred. This development can be traced back to the band photos and album covers.

Lynx played the violin , Lamb played the guitar , and they both sang. Two albums were released, Fragment of the Future (2004) and The Path We Chose (2005). In addition to their own compositions, the twins took up songs by the well-known neo-Nazi musicians Ian Stuart and Ken McLellan and classics such as The Road to Valhalla or Victory Day . The first album was based on the folk / songwriting genre and dealt with typical themes of neo-fascist music, while the second album offered light, poppy rock with love songs , among other things . On their first, still under-produced album, it was audible that the sisters did not have a perfect command of vocals and instruments. The second phonogram release, with its more professional production, was an improvement in this regard.

Lynx and Lamb were sponsored by the National Alliance , a White Supremacy organization , and have taken part in many neo-Nazi concerts in the United States, such as Hammerfest. In Germany , the distribution of the CDs was taken over by the mail order business of the NPD and its party organ, German Voice . Download portals such as Napster also offered their songs. Problematic song titles were removed from the album For The Fatherland , which was specially compiled for the German market .

The two group members were up to the secondary level , at any school, but were by her mother, with whom she lived on the farm of his grandfather taught domesticated , which in the US is allowed. Home schooling was justified by allegedly misrepresenting historical facts in schools. Since the summer of 2006, Lynx and Lamb were attending high school, according to the official website .

Both mother and grandfather profess National Socialism and are members of the NSDAP organizational structure founded by neo-Nazi Gary Lauck . Both put this on public display with swastikas : for example, the grandfather marks his cattle with a brand in the form of the swastika. The accusations that are often raised that the children are being used for neo-fascist propaganda and do not even know what they are singing are denied, as can be read in the band blog in connection with a review of the first album.

In 2002/2003 Lynx and Lamb worked with their mother April in the US horror film "Dark Walker". The sisters and their mother could also be seen in the 2003 TV documentary "Louis and the Nazis" by Louis Theroux . Another documentary called Nazi Pop Twins was first shown on UK TV channel Channel 4 in July 2007 . The journalist James Quinn accompanied the band for over a year and drew a picture that looked behind the otherwise publicly displayed facade. This included, for example, arguments between the twins and their mother and the band's attempt to ostensibly distance themselves from the neo-Nazi scene.

The duo was supposed to perform at the NPD Bavaria Day in Regensburg in 2006 . The appearance had to be canceled for legal reasons. In 2007 there was an appearance at the NPD's Saxony Day.

Break with the neo-Nazi scene

In mid-2011, the twins announced their exit from the neo-Nazi scene to the Internet newspaper The Daily . Lamb Gaede said she no longer saw herself as a “ white nationalist ”. Much more, she and her sister Lynx are now "fairly liberal". For her part, she said that she would love diversity: “It fills me anew with pride every day that we have so many different cultures, that we have so many places and people in mankind.” The ultimate break was with the move to Montana by attending a public school. Before the twins were years of their neo-Nazi mother at home been taught. The song Knockin 'on Heaven's Door by the " Jewish " musician Bob Dylan was played against their advice at the concerts of the European tour in 2006 . After the end of the trip, they said nothing about the beginning change of attitude in order to keep media attention low and "try to live a normal life". Yet they had an essentially unchanged stance on the Holocaust .

“We want to stand for love and light. I think we are meant for more - we are healers. We just want to convey as much love and a positive attitude as possible. "

- Lamb Lennon : Interview in The Daily

Diseases

Lynx Gaede had a cancerous sore removed from her shoulder. As a result, she suffered from cyclic vomiting syndrome . Lamb Gaede suffers from acute scoliosis . By now they both had a card with which they could purchase marijuana for the relief of their illness. They campaigned for the acquisition of marijuana for medical purposes to be legalized in all states of the United States.
