The talent actually played its first competitive game from within its own ranks on February 8, 1959, in a sensational 1-0 defeat against VfR Baumholder in the competition for the Southwest German Cup. With Werner Liebrich , Horst Eckel , Willi Hölz , Erwin Scheffler , Karl Schmidt and Willi Wenzel , several representatives of the successful era were also on the field.

In the last coaching year of the meritorious Richard Schneider , 1960/61, Pulter belonged to the narrow circle of regular players with 29 league games and four goals. With Manfred Feldmüller and Gerhard Settelmeyer , two more hopeful players from the amateur team had moved up into the Oberligaelf, which finished 4th at the end of the round. With a 7-2 win on May 6, 1961, the FCK had qualified for the 1st DFB Cup main round; Pulter was used as the left wing runner. The cup games against Tasmania 1900 Berlin (2: 1), Spfr. Hamborn 07 (2: 1) and the final on September 13, 1961 then took place under the new coach Günter Brocker in the first half of 1961/62. The cup final took place in Gelsenkirchen against SV Werder Bremen and the green-whites from the Weser prevailed 2-0. With Gerd Schneider and Werner Liebrich, Pulter, as the left wing runner, formed the runner-up in the World Cup system used at the time . In the league he came in 1961/62 on 26 missions and scored five goals; FCK again took fourth place. He gained international experience in the games against SC Tatabanya, FC Nancy and Ajax Amsterdam as part of the Intertoto round .

For the last season of the first-class league, 1962/63, Kaiserslautern strengthened the team with the newcomers Willi Kostrewa , Erich Meier and Willy Reitgaßl . It was not just about the battle for the Southwest Championship, the nomination for the new Bundesliga from 1963/64 was the overriding goal of the round. FCK started the round on August 19, 1962 with a 2: 4 defeat at Saar 05 Saarbrücken. After the first half of the season 1. FC Saarbrücken led the table with 23: 7 points, followed by the two teams FK Pirmasens and 1. FC Kaiserslautern with 22: 8 points each. Against the bottom of the table, SV Niederlahnstein, Pulter and colleagues managed a 16-0 victory on the Betzenberg on January 21, 1963. Pulter scored three goals on the half-left. On the 21st round of the match, the rival from Pirmasens with equal points was defeated 5-2 and the attack by the Lauterer had shown itself in form with Feldmüller, Reitgaßl, Richter, Pulter and Meier. At the end of the round, Kaiserslautern had a lead of 47:13 points, six points ahead of their pursuers Neunkirchen, Pirmasens and Worms with the same number of points and was accepted into the new Bundesliga with the championship win. Pulter had scored 12 goals in 21 league appearances. In the final round of the 1963 German soccer championship , he played against 1. FC Nürnberg (2: 2, 1: 5), 1. FC Köln (1: 1) and Hertha BSC (0: 3) scored a hit.

Pulter belongs to the group of players who got the new Bundesliga up and running on August 24, 1963. FCK opened with a 1: 1 at Eintracht Frankfurt and the athletic all-rounder was responsible for the defensive function as a middle runner. His club had grown with the players Harald Braner , Jacobus Prins , Horst-Dieter Strich and Willi Wrenger . The conclusion to the home game on the sixth match day, October 5, 1963, a goalless 0-0 against Preußen Münster, is noted in the Bundesliga chronicle 1963/64 : "On both sides the stoppers Pulter and Bockisch ensured the solid cohesion of the back team played soberly and showed - especially not the fastest under the sun - their strengths in the positional game. ”On the tenth matchday, November 9, 1963, the stopper underwent two own goals in the first half of the home game against VfB Stuttgart (1: 3) . Apart from him, this only happened to Dieter Bast , Gerd Zimmermann , Per Røntved , Nikolče Noveski and Karim Haggui in the Bundesliga . Rudi Entenmann had put Kaiserslautern 1-0 ahead with a self-goal in the 18th minute. Three own goals in one game were a new record. It was only discontinued in 2009 when Hannover 96 players met their own net three times in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach .

In the second Bundesliga year 1964/65 the FCK went with the newcomers Helmut Kapitulski , Wilfried Leydecker and Dietmar Schwager . Pulter played his last Bundesliga game on November 28, 1964 in a 2-0 away defeat at Eintracht Braunschweig. The "stopper giant" had caused a hand penalty in the 11th minute of the game, which Lothar Ulsaß converted to the 1-0 lead of the host.

In 1965 he was reamateurised. After his career he remained connected to the FCK and the city and headed the land registry office in Kaiserslautern for many years.
