The Dünsener Bach is an approximately 33.5 km long, left or southern tributary of the Klosterbach in the river system of the Weser . It flows in the area of the city of Bassum ( district of Diepholz ), the integrated community of Harpstedt ( district of Oldenburg ), the municipality of Stuhr (district of Diepholz) and the city of Delmenhorst (all of Lower Saxony , Germany ), south of Bremen . He is subordinate to the Ochtumverband.

course

The source of the Dünsener Bach as a detention ditch is located northwest of Wedehorn ; the actual “Dünsener Bach” begins after about 7 km southwest of Groß Hollwedel . From there it flows in a northerly direction east past Harpstedt , then through Dünsen and Groß Ippener . After crossing under the Federal Motorway 1 , the path continues through the landscape protection area "Dünsener Bach - Steller Heide", then past Annenheide , where it splits into Stickgraser Bäke and Heidbäke and soon after crosses the Federal Motorway 28 . After the confluence of the two arms of Stickgraser Bäke and Heidbäke , it finally flows under the name Pultern north of Stuhr- Varrel into the Klosterbach , which in turn flows into the Ochtum only about four kilometers further .

Water structure

The Dünsener Bach has suffered greatly from human interference in the past decades. The area of the upper reaches, known as the Haftgraben, from the source to the state road 776 Bassum-Harpstedt is dominated by structural quality classes 6 (very much changed) and in isolated cases even 7 (completely changed). Near-natural areas with structural quality class 2 (slightly changed) and 3 (moderately changed) are only available in short sections between Groß Hollwedel and Dünsen. The structural quality class 1 (unchanged) does not occur in the entire course. Below Dünsen there are only a few areas with quality class 3, from Groß Ippener to the confluence with the Klosterbach the structural quality classes 5 and 6 dominate Alder trees, as their agricultural use often extends right up to the water. The lack of shade and the entry of nutrients is often noticeable in the summer months through the strong dominance of waterweed. The bottom of the formerly gravel-shaped brook now often has a sand sole. Deadwood as a structural element for a dynamic development and habitat for a multitude of organisms is also hardly to be found, as it is very often removed during maintenance measures in order to ensure rapid drainage.
