history

In old documents from 1211, 1231 and 1250, the name Ippener is mentioned for the first time as a personal name, place name and parish . In 1211 the term Ippener is mentioned for the first time in a document from Bassum Abbey, in which the noblewoman Aldagus de Ippenerde is listed as a witness. The seat of the noble family Ippener was probably in Klein Ippener on the Dünsener Bach . In 1231 Ippener is mentioned for the first time as a place name in a deed of Bassum Abbey. There, the Bremen monastery visitors confirm the Bassum monastery “the possession of the tithe of Ippenerthe, which the abbess Elisabeth gave to the monastery”. Around 1250, the name Ippener appears as "Parrochia Yppenerthe" in a document for the construction of a bridge over the Weser near Bremen , in which Ippener, as the "Parish Ippener", had to pay taxes to build this bridge. The size of the parish determined the tax, which at that time corresponded exactly to the size of the tax from the neighboring town of Harpstedt . The parish of Ippener used to have a church in the center of Groß Ippener opposite today's restaurant Wülfers. During the Thirty Years War the church burned down and was not rebuilt.

In 1859 the independent communities Groß Ippener, Klein Ippener, Annen and Ortholz were combined to form the rural community Groß Ippener, which belonged to the Freudenberg Office. The newly formed rural community Groß Ippener had a total of 64 apartments with 440 inhabitants. In 1932 the parish came to County Hoya County .

In the course of the district and territorial reform of 1974 , the rural community Groß Ippener was spun off from the Grafschaft Hoya district and since then has formed the combined community of Harpstedt in the Oldenburg district with eight other member communities .
