Pumuckl and the Blue Klabauter is a German movie from 1994. It was released on March 24, 1994 in German cinemas. In terms of content, it ties in with the series Meister Eder and his Pumuckl from the 1980s and at the same time forms the transition to the later new Pumuckl episodes, Pumuckl's Adventure , from 1999, which in turn tie in with the movie. It was the last film in which Gustl Bayrhammer took part, which is why the film was dedicated to him. Manfred Korytowski was in charge of the overall direction, while Janos Uzsak directed the animation .

action

One day the Pumuckl informed the master carpenter Eder that he would like to leave him to meet the blue Klabauter on a Danube ship , who let him know by seagull that he would like to teach him magic. Meister Eder initially considers this to be a Pumuckl spinning mill. Ms. Riedinger, one of Mr. Eder's customers, also happens to come into the workshop and tell us that she is going to take a boat trip on the Danube from Passau to Vienna . The next morning Pumuckl secretly drives to Passau in Ms. Riedinger's car and goes with her on board the ship.

Since the blue Klabauter is not there yet, Pumuckl still has time to play some of his jokes. Above all, he annoys the ill-tempered troublemaker Mr. Bradtke, whom Ms. Riedinger and his adult daughter Carolin met on the ship. Then Pumuckl meets the blue Klabauter who gets seasick on the sea and therefore travels on a river steamer. This tells him with bad intentions that he has to jump into the water if he wants to learn magic. But Pumuckl is afraid of water and also cannot swim at all. Pumuckl is accidentally locked in the kitchen refrigerator and freed the next morning by ship's cook Odessi, to whom he is then also visible. He wants to help him and gives him swimming lessons in one of his cooking pots. In return, Pumuckl would like to ensure that Odessi and Carolin get closer. That's why he brings steward Martin, who has also taken a liking to Carolin, into numerous embarrassing situations. On the day of the jump, Pumuckl would really have almost drowned if the ship's cook Odessi hadn't saved him.

Meanwhile in Munich , Master Eder feels very lonely since Pumuckl left. Sandra and Thomas, the grandchildren of Eder's regulars' table friend Schmitt, want to bring back the Pumuckl for Master Eder. That's why they take Pumuckl's bed with them and travel to their aunt in Vienna to put it up on the Danube ship and get him to return home. Plagued by extreme sadness, Pumuckl tells Odessi that he has to leave him in order to return to Meister Eder.

Finally Pumuckl travels back to Munich by train with Sandra and Thomas. On the way back from the pub, Master Eder meets Pumuckl and both are overjoyed that they have each other again. He lets Master Eder understand that he never wants to leave and that it is much nicer in his workshop. Quote from Pumuckl from the film: "Oh what are all the boats for, the sawdust is much nicer."

background

Since Gustl Bayrhammer died shortly after the film was shot, it had to be dubbed by Wolf Euba .

The film begins with a dedication to Gustl Bayrhammer. Pumuckl is sitting on his bed in Eder's workshop in front of a picture of Bayrhammer as Master Eder and, with tears in his eyes, speaks the words: "I dedicate this film to you, dear Master Eder."

There was already a radio play in the 1980s series with Bayrhammer with the same name, but with a completely different plot. There, at Pumuckl's request, Master Eder takes part in a competition, where the two then also win a trip to an island in the Ionian Sea . There Pumuckl meets a (nice) blue Klabauter. He tells Pumuckl that all Klabauers have to go back to sea, as this is the oldest Klabauer law. However, since the Kobold laws are older and higher, Pumuckl is allowed to stay with Meister Eder.

After the carpenter's workshop from the series, which was located in the backyard of Widenmayerstraße 2 , had meanwhile been demolished, another workshop was taken for the film shoot.

Ulrich König , the director of the series, was originally supposed to direct this film, but turned it down because he didn't like the script.
