Roman Pungartnik (born May 16, 1971 in Celje ) is a former Slovenian handball player . The left-hander was considered variable and could occupy both the back space right and the right wing position .

The trained businessman is married and has a daughter.

Career

Roman Pungartnik initially played for the Slovenian first division club RK Celje . In 2002 the left-hander moved to Germany, where he worked for Wilhelmshavener HV , THW Kiel , HSV Hamburg and VfL Gummersbach . For Wilhelmshaven he scored 16 field goals in a game against ThSV Eisenach in the 2002/03 season, a record that was only exceeded in 2009 by Stefan Schröder (19). November 5, 2008 changed Pungartnik to the cadets Schaffhausen , in the National League A played. He ended his career there in the summer of 2009 and then became sports director of the Slovenian handball association. In October 2010 he resigned from this office.

From the beginning of April 2010 he played again for the remainder of the second half of the season with the Bundesliga team TuS N-Lübbecke .

With the Slovenian national team, Pungartnik took part in the 2000 Olympic Games and became the tournament's third top scorer. At the 2004 European Handball Championship in his own country, he won the silver medal.
