Queen's Blade Rebellion
Queen's Gate

Queen's Blade ( Japanese ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド , Kuīnzu Bureido ) is a playbook series published by Hobby Japan . It is based on licensed components of Flying Buffalo's game book series Lost Worlds , in which the original characters have been replaced by exclusively female characters. Published from 2005 to 2008, the series developed into a media franchise that was adapted as manga , computer games or anime , supplemented by Queen's Gate and continued by Queen's Blade Rebellion .

action

Every four years , the Queen's Blade tournament takes place in the capital, Gainos ( ガ イ ノ ス , Gainosu ), an unspecified kingdom that rules the continent . Only women are allowed to participate. Its goal is through life and death duels to finally choose the victor as the next reigning queen. In addition to the reigning queen and two-time winner Aldra, 17 other women are taking part in the tournament for various reasons.

Characters

Leina ( 流浪 の 戦 士 レ イ ナ , Rurō no Senshi Reina , dt. "Wandering warrior Leina") or ( 高貴 な る 戦 士 レ イ ナ , Kōki Naru Reina , German "noble warrior Leina")
Speaker: Ayako Kawasumi
Leina is the second daughter of the powerful Count Vance, whose family descends from the ruling family that ruled the country before the Queen's Blade Tournament was established and as such is in opposition to the respective queen. Although Leina is considered to be the Count's successor, she wants to escape this position and would rather lead an adventure life. She is also not interested in money or fame and only takes part in the tournament to test her skills. Leina fights with a long sword.
Risty ( 荒野 の 義 賊 リ ス テ ィ , Kōya no Gizoku Risuti , dt. "Noble robber of the wilderness Risty")
Speaker: Yūko Kaida
Risty is a Robin Hood figure who ambushes rich and corrupt nobles and merchants to distribute their treasures to the poor. Because of her easily irritable character, she is therefore feared and loved by her subordinates and the population alike. She takes part in the tournament to eliminate the evil in the country as queen and to make the country equally livable for all citizens. Risty's weapon is the morning star .
Irma ( 牙 の 暗殺者 イ ル マ , Kiba no Ansatsusha Iruma , Ger. "Assassin of the fang Irma")
Speaker: Yui Kano
Irma is part of the queen's fang-tooth death squad, which acts as the secret police. She has an emotionless character. Irma takes part in the tournament on the orders of the Queen in order to eliminate the other tournament participants early. Their weapons are the sword and the dagger.
Nowa ( 森 の 番人 ノ ワ , Mori no Bannin Nowa , German "Guardian of the Nowa Forest")
Speaker: Mikako Takahashi
Nowa is a young half-elf. As a child, she grew up in a human village that she abused because of her origins, but after she got lost in the forest, she found shelter with the elves, who also distrust her and tasked her with guarding the entrance to the forest. Even so, Nowa has a friendly and innocent nature, and the animals of the forest are her best friends. She takes part in the tournament to protect her forest, while it was a good opportunity for the elven superiors to get rid of her. Nowa fights with the stick and is protected by her monkey Rū ( ル ー ), whose skin is impenetrable.
Tomoe ( 武 者 巫女 ト モ エ , Musha Miko Tomoe , German "warrior priestess Tomoe")
Speaker: Mamiko Noto
Tomoe is a warrior priestess or warrior miko from Hinomoto ( ヒ ノ モ ト , literally "origin of the sun", which has the same meaning as Nihon = Japan ), an island off the continent to the east, whose task is to protect the country. Tomoe is designed according to the ideal of a Yamato Nadeshiko , has an elegant demeanor and a polite and serious character. She takes part in the tournament to protect her country. Tomoe fights with a katana , as well as various protective and cleaning spells.
Echidna ( 歴 戦 の 傭兵 エ キ ド ナ , Rekisen no Yōhei Ekidona , German "war-experienced mercenary Echidna")
Speaker: Yuki Kaida
Echidna is a wild elf with more than 500 years of combat experience, which makes her considered undefeated. She used to be the commander of the Fang Death Squad, where she trained Irma, but now works as a mercenary. She has a cold-blooded character, but she has a thing for innocent young girls. A special feature is her snake Keltan ( ケ ル タ ン , Kerutan ), which she wears instead of underwear. Why she takes part in the tournament remains unclear, especially since she has no interest in the royal throne. She fights with the sword and the dagger.
Menace ( 古代 の 王 女 メ ナ ス , Kodai no Ōjo Menasu , dt. "Princess of antiquity Menace")
Speaker: Yūko Gotō
Menace is the princess of the kingdom of Amara, which fell thousands of years ago and is similar to ancient Egypt . She was resurrected by the swamp witch and theoretically part of her army, although Menace practically pursued her own plans. Due to her origins as a well-protected princess and the cultural differences, she has a naive character. However, she is well practiced in hand-to-hand combat, which she fights with her living scepter Setra ( セ ト ラ , Setora ), who also serves as her advisor, although he has a somewhat lustful character. She is competing in the tournament as part of her plan to revive the ancient kingdom of Amara.
Elina ( 近衛 隊長 エ リ ナ , Konoe Taichō Erina , Eng . "Commander of the Royal Guard Elina")
Speaker: Kaori Mizuhashi
Elina is the younger sister of Leina and commander of the count's guard, in whose capacity she also carries out espionage and assassination missions. In contrast to her gentle sister, Elina has a cruel and sadistic character and is also a master of psychological warfare in which she weakens her opponents in battle with poisonous words. She also fights with a special spear and a glove with iron claws. In contrast to her usual character, she behaves like an angel in the presence of her sisters and has been almost obsessively infatuated with Leina, especially since childhood. She takes part in the tournament on the orders of her father to bring Leina back.
Airi ( 冥 土 へ 誘 う も の ア イ リ , Meido e Izanau Mono Airi , German "Loose in the underworld Airi")
Speaker: Kanae Itō
Airi emerged from the summoning of the souls of the deceased by the swamp witch and is their most loyal servant. In order to keep herself alive, she constantly needs the life energy of others as food, and she likes that of attractive women best, especially if her victims also feel fear, fear and above all despair. Airi wears a maid 's uniform , which can be traced back to a play on words, since meido 'underworld' is synonymous with maid 'maid'. If she does not receive any life energy for a long time, she first loses her clothes, which she projects from life energy alone, and then fades itself visibly until she would finally disappear. She takes part in the Queen's Blade at the behest of the swamp witch.
Nanael ( 光明 の 天使 ナ ナ エ ル , Kōmyō no Tenshi Nanaeru , German "Angel of Light Nanael")
Speaker: Aya Hirano
Nanael is an angel who was sent to earth as a messenger from heaven to watch the tournament. Nanael has an arrogant character and sees people as inferior. She was therefore also sent to earth to rehabilitate herself because of her behavior unworthy of an angel and not to be expelled from heaven. Since, as an angel, she would be superior to all tournament participants, she was given a handicap in the form of a bottle with holy milk, in which her strength is weakened with every drop of spilled milk. An outward peculiarity of Nanael is that she is one of her angel wings withered. Nanael also has her own plan to take part in the tournament, in which she wants to make the earth her male harem and banish all women.
Cattleya ( 武器 屋 カ ト レ ア , Bukiya Katorea , German "gun shop owner Cattleya")
Speaker: Ryōka Yuzuki
Cattleya was a former adventurer with her husband Owen ( オ ー ウ ェ ン , Ōwen ) and then settled down to run a gun shop. When her husband suddenly disappeared one day, she decided to take part in the tournament, as it is broadcast nationwide by magic. Cattleya uses a large sword called the Giant Slayer ( 巨人 殺 し , kyojin koroshi ) as a weapon , which would make her one of the most aggressive fighters. This is diminished, however, by the fact that her son Rana ( ラ ナ ) does not want to leave her side and she therefore takes him into her battles and has to protect him.
Nyx ( 炎 の 使 い 手 ニ ク ス , Honō no Tsukaite Nikusu , German "user of the flames Nyx")
Speaker: Rie Tanaka
Nyx was a servant at the court of Count Vance as a child, but was constantly humiliated there. One day, however, a mysterious magical fire staff called Funikura ( フ ニ ク ラ ) fell to her. Since then, she has been fighting for justice, but her powerful magic often gets out of control. In fact, however, the staff is a diabolical being that they constantly abuse. Nevertheless, she absolutely wants to keep him so as not to be a nobody again. So she takes part in the tournament to show it to all those who looked down on her.
Melpha ( 帝都 の 聖女 メ ル フ ァ , Teito no Seijo Merufa , dt. "Holy woman of the capital Melpha")
Speaker: Sayaka Ōhara
Melpha is a senior church nun whose grandmother is her leader. Melpha is devout and therefore extremely helpful. She fights with "holy poses" ( 聖 な る ポ ー ズ , seinaru pōzu ), as they are written down in the ancient scriptures of her religion, with which the punishment of heaven can be drawn on her adversaries. However, she avoids their use, as on the one hand she is peace-loving and on the other hand the poses are more obscene. She is participating in the tournament because the Church asked her to.
Melona ( 千 変 の 刺客 メ ロ ー ナ , Sempen no Shikaku Merōna , dt. "Assassin of the Thousand Changes Melona")
Speaker: Rie Kugimiya
Melona is a servant of the swamp witch and a shapeshifter. As such, it is often used for attack and espionage missions. Melona has a childish character and loves to play nasty pranks. By absorbing the flesh of other living things, it can increase its powers. She also uses her transformation skills to make her body very soft or very hard, depending on the situation, as well as to recreate weapons and armor. Melona takes part in the tournament because she has been given the task of creating confusion among the participants.
Claudette ( 雷雲 の 将 ク ロ ー デ ッ ト , Raiun no Shō Kurōdetto , dt. "General of the storm cloud Claudette")
Speaker: Atsuko Tanaka
Claudette is the eldest daughter of Count Vance. She is considered one of the best female swordsmen and has excellent leadership skills and high integrity. As such, it is stationed on the county's border with the lands directly controlled by the queen. Despite her skills and her status as a firstborn, she is only the third in line to the throne after Leina and Elina, as her mother was a commoner. In contrast to her sisters, she has a silent and unsociable character. She fights with the two-handed sword Thunder Clap ( サ ン ダ ー ク ラ ッ プ , Sundā Kurappu ) with which she can conjure up lightning bolts that strike her opponent. Like Eline, she takes part in the tournament at the orders of the Count to bring Leina back.
Ymir ( 鋼 鉄 姫 ユ ー ミ ル , Kōtetsu Hime Yūmiru , German " Steel Princess Ymir")
Speaker: Ayaka Saitō
Ymir is the daughter of the dwarf king of the steel mountains ( 鋼 鉄 山 , kōtetsu-zan ), which form the center of iron ore mining and steel production in the country. The dwarves got into financial problems due to the increasing competition from other groups who manufacture inferior iron en masse. Ymir therefore set out to convince the world of the quality of the weapons in their forge and takes part in the tournament as a promotional measure. Ymir has a stubborn character and, although she is more than 50 years old, looks rather childish at 1.20 m. She fights with an oversized battle ax.
Alleyne ( 戦 闘 教官 ア レ イ ン , Sentō Kyōkan Arein , German "combat instructor Alleyne")
Speaker: Eri Kitamura
Alleyne is a more than 1000 year old elf and is the commander and trainer of the elven troops in her forest. She has a habit of constantly giving lessons and grading others. Alleyne has a rather unsociable character and always demands honesty and a decent lifestyle from himself and others. She and Echidna have known each other for a long time, with the latter giving a sermon about their dissolute life every time they meet and Echidna raising her as a 1000-year-old virgin. Alleyne taught Nowa to fight and, against the opposition of the other elves, made her the guardian of the forest. Also in other respects, Nowa means a lot to her, which you can see from the fact that she only takes part in the tournament and thus left her home to protect Nowa.
Aldra ( 逢 魔 の 女王 ア ル ド ラ , Ōma no Joō Arudora , dt. "Possessed queen Aldra")
Speaker: Miyū Takeuchi
Aldra is the Queen of the Country and a two-time Queen's Blade Tournament winner. She is a half-demon that arose from the union of the highest religious head with the daughter of the Demon King. With her innate ability as a conjurer, she made a pact eight years ago with the demon Delmore ( デ ル モ ア , Derumoa ), who gave her the skills to win the tournament, especially to petrify others with her right eye. However, this also stopped her growth, so that she looks very young at 1.45 m. The reason for her participation was to become queen to find her younger sister, whom she lost sight of years ago, while both of them wandered the country because of their ancestry as outcasts.
Shizuka ( 甲 魔 忍 軍 頭領 シ ズ カ , Kōma Ningun Tōryō Shizuka , dt. "Head of the Kōma ninja army Shizuka")
Speaker: Hitomi Nabatame
Shizuka is a ninja of the Kōma clan, which is powerful on Hinomoto. Although she was originally enemies with Tomoe, she was deeply impressed by their fighting skills and friendliness and became her best friend, for which she also betrayed her clan.
Shizuka does not own a playbook and is not a participant in the tournament.

Game mechanics

The game books in the Queen's Blade series are based on the game book series Lost Worlds by Flying Buffalo, the first 15 issues of which were also translated into Japanese in 1985. Using the 64-page game books, a role-playing game takes place between two players in which each player takes a book. Each book represents one or more characters and contains a character sheet with the possible actions and attacks, which remains with the player, while the opponent receives the book in which the effects of the individual actions are listed. With three exceptions, the tables of existing Lost Worlds figures were used for Queen's Blade and the figures were replaced by exclusively female figures with a different background story and new illustrations by well-known Japanese illustrators.

Because of this, the Queen's Blade game books are fully compatible with Lost Worlds , so that using the Queen's Blade rules, its characters can be played against those of Lost Worlds .

The following 20 play books with illustrations by well-known artists such as Hirokazu Hisayuki ( Mai-HiME ), Kazuhiro Takamura ( Mahoromatic , Strike Witches ) or Katsuzō Hirata ( Hand Maid May , Angel Beats! ) Have been published for Queen's Blade :
