Quirlblättriges St. John's Wort ( Hypericum coris ) is a plant from the genus of hypericum ( Hypericum ) in the family of hypericaceae (Hypericaceae).

The whorl-leaved St. John's wort is a perennial plant that reaches heights of 10 to 40 centimeters and lignifies at the base. There are numerous very thin, round, finely ribbed and arching stems . The 0.5 to 2 cm long, needle-like leaves sit in whorls of three to five . Their edge is rolled down and they are dotted with very fine, translucent dots.

The flowers are in a loose, few-flowered panicle , only rarely are single flowers available. The yellow, non-glandular crown has 5 to 1 cm long petals . The numerous stamens are fused together to form three bundles. The five sepals are only half as long as the crown, they have stalked black glands on the edge and lie against the capsule , which is 8 mm long and striped with glands. The flowering period extends from June to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

St. John's wort comes from the Maritime Alps to the Trentino Dolomites . It can also be found locally in the Swiss Alps in the cantons of Uri , Unterwalden , Schwyz , Glarus and St. Gallen .

It can be found from the plain up to altitudes of 2000 meters in dry areas, on limestone and in crevices.
