The Régiment de Poly cavalerie was a regiment of heavy cavalry in the Kingdom of France . Erected on the occasion of the War of Devolution , it was dissolved again with the increasing decline in French participation in the Seven Years' War .

  • June 1, 1727: Renamed the Régiment du Chayla cavalerie
  • March 10, 1734: Renamed the Régiment d'Ancezune cavalerie
  • February 21, 1740: Renamed the Régiment du Rumain cavalerie
  • January 31, 1749: Renamed the Régiment de Poly cavalerie
  • December 1, 1761: Dissolution and incorporation into the Régiment d'Escouloubre cavalerie

Furnishing

Standard

The regiment carried six standards of yellow silk. The royal sun was depicted on the front, framed with ornaments, both in gold embroidery. Above it is the tape with King Louis XIV's motto : NEC PLURIBUS IMPAR .

On the back was a square with bevelled corners depicting a soaring eagle. Above it is the currency ribbon with the inscription Nec terrent, nec morantur . It was all embroidered in silver. It is unclear whether the surrounding fringes were made of gold or silver, there are contradicting information.

Mestres de camp-lieutenants, colonels-lieutenants and colonels

Mestre de camp was from 1569 to 1790 the rank designation for the regiment holder and / or the actual commander of a cavalry regiment. Should the mestre de camp be a person of the high nobility who had no interest in leading the regiment (such as the king or queen), the command was given to the “mestre de camp lieutenant” (or "Mestre de camp en second").
