Réginal Goreux (born December 31, 1987 in Saint-Michel , Haiti ) is a former Haitian football player who also has Belgian citizenship.

Career

Goreux began his career in the youth team of Berloz FC. At the age of seven he joined the youth department of Standard Liège . After years in various youth teams, he joined the first team in 2007. He made his debut on February 23, 2008 against KAA Gent , when he came on for Igor de Camargo in the 88th minute . The game ended 0-0. This season, the right-back made another eleven appearances and scored one goal against the RAEC Mons . In the end, the championship and the Supercup were won. These successes were repeated in the 2008/09 season.

He was also used for the first time at European club level in 2008/09. Goreux was substituted in the group game of the UEFA Cup against FK Partizan Belgrade (final score 1: 0) on November 27, 2008 in the 57th minute.

In 2009/10 Standard advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League . In this European Cup season he came on six missions. In the championship, eighth place was achieved in the basic round. In the play-offs for the Europa League, the club finished second in Group B.

In January 2013 Goreux moved to the Russian club Krylja Sowetow Samara , who plays in the Premjer League , the top Russian league. After Samara was able to avoid relegation games in the 2012/13 season, the club rose after the 2013/14 season and played in the Perwenstwo FNL in the 2014/15 season . After he was not used there in the first games of the new season, Goreux moved to FK Rostov back in the Premjer League .

His contract there was terminated on February 26, 2015. After Goreux was initially without a club, he returned to Standard Liège in October 2015 and signed a new contract there, which was extended in May 2018.

From the 2017/18 season, Goreux was often not in the matchday squad and only played a few games a year. At the turn of the year 2019/20 he agreed with the club to terminate the contract. But he stayed with the club and took on tasks at the Robert Louis Dreyfus Academy , the club's own training center for young people.

National team

For Belgium , Goreux has so far been active for the U-21 selection, four times in qualifying matches for the U-21 European Championship and in a friendly match.

For the senior national team, he decided to play for Haiti . His first international game there was on October 7, 2011 as part of a qualifier for the 2014 World Cup against the US Virgin Islands. His greatest success with the Haitian national team was the quarter-finals of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup , in which Haiti was eliminated by Jamaica. Goreux himself only played two group games in this tournament.

Most recently on March 28, 2017, he was part of the Haitian national team in the lost play-off second leg as part of the qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2017 against Nicaragua.
