Róbert Freyr Pálsson (born July 19, 1991 ) is an Icelandic ice hockey player who has been under contract with UMFK Esja in the Icelandic ice hockey league since 2014 .

Career

Róbert Pálsson began his career as a hockey player with Ísknattleiksfélagið Björninn , for whom he made his debut in the Icelandic ice hockey league at the age of 15 . In 2011 he moved to Denmark to Amager Ishockey , who played in the second division 1st division for almost two years . Shortly before the end of the 2012/13 season , he returned to his home club. He has been under contract with league rival UMFK Esja since 2014 .

International

Róbert Pálsson played for Iceland as a youth. He initially took part in the U18 World Championships in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 in Division III. With the U20 selection of Icelanders, he took part in the 2008 , 2010 and 2011 World Championships . He played in Division II in 2008 and 2011 and in Division III in 2010, when he was voted the best player on his team.

Parallel to his assignments in the junior teams, Róbert Pálsson also played in the men's national team . He made his debut as a 17-year-old at the 2009 World Cup , when he finished fourth out of six teams in Division II with the Icelanders at the tournament in Reykjavík. He also represented his colors in this division in 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2016 and 2017 . He also played with the Icelanders in qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
